Jim in Elm Tree

I grew up on a farm in South Eastern Minnesota and I consider myself fortunate for having learned the value of hard work early in life. My Dad worked as a crane operator for a bridge construction company, he also ran our family farm and worked as a part time logger. I have always loved big equipment and working outdoors. I knew I would need to work outside and be somehow involved with nature. My dream of building a company took place shortly after high school. I got my biggest push into the tree business in 1989 while doing tree damage repair after Hurricane Hugo.
I am an ISA Certified Arborist and continue my education both to keep my certification active and to become a better Arborist. I am constantly looking for ways to become more efficient, safe and to provide the best quality for my customers.
Trees have always intrigued me, and the way they are able to overcome adversity still amazes me. I once heard a man give a good definition of an Arborist, "someone who helps man and trees co-exist." That is a good description of how I would like to be known.
The urban landscape differs greatly from the woods that I grew up near. Trees in the urban environment compete against all types of adversity and a good arborist will be able to offer services to help a valued tree survive. A lot goes into planting a tree and often times planning for it's future is neglected. The biggest reason a tree needs to be removed is because it has simply outgrown it's given space. Poor health, branch structure and lack of planting preparation are other factors.
If you have a question or a need, I would love to hear from you. I love to build relationships and getting a call from a repeat customer is like being reunited with an old friend, it's one the very things I love about my job. As a result my clientele goes back almost 25 years.
I am looking forward to hearing from you!
